There Is No Art Without Heart

Survival

                          We are not human beings having a spiritual experience,

We are spiritual beings having a human experience!

Never does that phrase ring so true when you have just been with friends who love and accept you for just who you are: no games, no hidden agendas, no conditions.  Who could dispute that this is the truest gift of the universe we live in.  But sometimes a real blessing comes to you when you least expect it, but need it the most.  There is an artist who I have admired and bought anything she was in just so I could look at her work.  As love would have it, I was very fortunate to actually get to meet this great talent and found, as no surprise, that she is also a woman with a heart as big as her physical presence.  I was so excited that I had a chance to have a really good conversation with her and to find that we had things in common.  That, in itself, would have been a wonderful blessing in my life, one that I would always treasure and hold true, but as fate would have it, that was not the end.  Not in a long shot.  About a week after this meeting, a traumatic change came about in my life and guess who was there!  She has emailed me, made me smile, encouraged me and offered more help than anyone could have possibly imagined.  I am coming through all of this a better person because of this individual.  What a gift to give another human being!  Thank you Sarah Fishburn for being the fine human being that you are.  You live and shine your art as a lesson to us all what a true artist of life is and may we all aspire to that height.

Blogging Softly

After a very long absence from a very short term of blogging, I am putting my toe in the water once again to see how deep and warm, how fast the current in this living out loud community. I had been so hindered by those who would have chosen to twist a word or phrase, an image or an imagination into something evil and slimy, which totally polluted the idea of my being able to be myself in this forum.  But those days are gone: the days of the petty tyrant, the narcissistic bully and the nazi are left behind with no loyalty notes taken, no lunches spied upon and no black hearts to make the beauty of art all about themselves.  It is so unfortunate that the truest legacy they will leave behind is the number of people they hurt to the core and tried to destroy for their own edification and that they tried to turn the spirit of art and love into a forum of dollars and their own glory.  There is no art without heart and this truism will reign long after they are gone due to their own evil.

So as a more positive start back to my own art, I am going to post some of the journal pages that I have done that have helped me learn design and technique by the doing of the thing.  When I am creating art journal pages, I really don't include a lot of text because the images that I produce is what I wanted to say.  I used so much more color in my experiments, that I think I want to incorporate a wider range of hues that I had previously used.  I don't know where this new journey in art is going to take me, but I am hopping on board and ready for the ride!

FINALLY FOTOS

Well I really don't have a very good track record for writing out my posts yet. I am still sticking to the excuse that I have been way too busy for my own good or for doing anything other than work. It just seems that there are so many things that I haven't done to this site or need attention that would require more than a ten minute stint in the computer chair, that I have not done anything! It pretty much took me all day just to scan and photograph, resize, etc, then, set up the comments with the photos that I uploaded...whew. I better get faster at this or I am going to be lucky to get in one post per week.

The good news is that I actually got some of my newest art uploaded today and made my first album on this here typepad. I am so excited about this direction of art that I have been exploring lately.  It just makes me giddy. And this is only the beginning. I have so many ideas I want to execute and know that I won't have the time, but I sure am going to design this thing every spare moment I have. I'll have to keep you 'posted'.

I was at StampEJ in Debra's Cottage today setting up a class. Eva actually wanted to see if I would do three, which I would have loved to do, but I wanted to share this opportunity with my art sister extrordinare, Lisa Guerin. So just as I was telling her that I would do two and would she consider Lisa when Lisa called me on my cell phone on her way home from work! I love when things like that happen. So now she will have a class too and we can share all our ideas and such for the same place. Now that is really cool! And trust me, she would do the same for me because she is one of the most kind hearted and lovely person you would ever want to know...and that's not even including all the talent she has. Talk about lucking out with a great friend, I surely am blessed.

I think that my neck sinking into my shoulders at this point may be an indication that I have been sitting in front of this computer too long today. So I will just have to try and squeeze a few minutes in later and hopefully pick up some links from other friends. Right now that is the priority for this site as there is something cool I want to do, but each in it's own time.  Nite-nite

To Launch or not to Launch...Now that's a question!

  I thought that this image said it all tonight.  I have had this blog ready to launch for over a week now, but because my battery camera had been laid to rest for awhile I did not have the photos I wanted to compose the banner.  I spent most of the day on Sunday composing what is currently at the top of this page and even though it sort of looks OK, it was not what I wanted.  Being an artist judging ones own work means standing on the threshold of uncertainty more times than not.  So it didn't matter what anyone else thought of the silly banner, I was not satisfied and still am not.  The irony of this whole thing is that I have received a replacement battery and STILL haven't composed a new banner! Guess it was just having the willys over posting to a blog, which is something I always thought that I would not do and here I am sitting in front of this cyber diary thinking about silly stuff and typing other stuff and knowing that I better be thinking of better stuff or no one is going to read this stuff!!!

I should really not be so concerned about this blog when I have even been more derelict in not posting to my new group.  Just think, this absolutely wonderful group invites me into what is possibly one of the coolest venues I know of and I have not even posted a thank you to all of my new groupies, let alone written a proper introduction.  Think they're real happy about inviting me yet?  Oh guys, I have so many excuses with all the hours I work and all the drainage of personal amps, but I think the real thing is cyber phobia.
