Better late than never: I am referring to finally diving into Pasticcio Quartz, Issue 2. Sarah and Angela have done it again. Even though this was the holiday season edition, I think that this issue is even better than their first one. I also think that all of their subscribers will agree that this great publication is no longer just a 'zine either, but a fantastic art publication to match any other out there. There's not just eye candy here in these color bursting pages, but the best candy of all, brain candy and you sure don't find that in very many publications out there. In other words, I don't just absolutely love all the art, but I love the vocabulary, side bars, the honesty and the integrety and, oh yeah, the articles, too. When a publication can move me with gentle insights, explosive art and intelligent layouts, as well as, information that is significant even unto the supplies that I can use in my art, that's what I call a REAL art magazine: More the art of life, which is what we are all about anyway.
Case in point, I loved the 'alchemy' short because it made one of it's own 'alliterations' to one of the most ignored theoretical aspects of quantum mechanics, which sums up to something like this: each small act of kindness reverbates across great distances and spans of time affecting lives unknown to the one whose generous spirit was the source of this good echo, because kindnes is passed on and grows each time it's passed, until a simple courtesy becomes an act of selfless courage years later and far away. (Of course, the reverse is also true, but this short summation is the one that really counts to me.) This is the kind of stuff we should never get enough of, yet it is rarely indicated anywhere else. I know that the authors (Sarah and Angela) are centered within this alchemy that they offered to us through their 'Reflection' and it is reflected in this entire issue. Can't wait for more!
