Take your shoes off and set a spell, we've been waiting on you. Doesn't that idea just sound divine after a long day of the same old day, in and out. This is the time of day right now where I really enjoy a fresh cup of coffee and a great glimpse, which is not necessarily a read. A read is curling up for the rest of the night reading a good book and, then, going to bed way too late and when you get up in the morning, having to scold yourself for being so tired because you could not pull yourself out of that world in your book that held it's magic power over you. Now, if you're just going to have a glimpse, that's while the coffee is warming your throat to your toes and you have one of the sweet ones on your lap just up for a snuggle, then it's a good craft book or magazine for me. Nothing heavy, maybe something beautiful will sink in and mix it up with your art ideals of art and you will come up with a fantastic project from it, but more likely than not, it's just to look, breath and point out all the pretties before your eyes. Just a glimpse to get a feel good place in your heart after that day of days.
If you are reading blogs, duh and have formed a group with whom you chat or share art or just like to call yourselves a group, this book is definitely for you. In 'The Crafter's Companion' a group of like minded, creative women who have been a blogging group, put together a craft book. Each participant has a chapter devoted to what they love, craft and their space and at the end of each one is a simple project designed by that particular member of the group. I found it totally enchanting, well written and the projects were all inspirational. So the next time you want a little eye candy from Amazon, give this book a try. Who knows, maybe we all could start art support groups and make magic happen from there!
Every time someone tells me that the market for arts and crafts books is saturated, I immediately know that they don't really love these types of books. For my money, there will never be enough. We all have so many wonderful things to make, write, share that everyone else wants to know about that there really aren't enough publishers out there for all of us. Maybe we could do more things through our blogs with the same thought in mind. It could work. Let's give it some thought!
